| EKG Technician Training / Phlebotomy Technician Training (Combo) The EKG Technician Training / Phlebotomy Technician Training (Combo) program is designed to generate multi-skilled medical laboratory technicians whose primary function is the collection of blood specimens for testing and other non-blood specimen such as urine, throat, culture and stool and take routing EKG as well as analyzing basic EKG. At HTI the objective of the program is to prepare the graduate to apply for entry-level EKG Technician and Phlebotomist positions. This program's emphasis on providing the student with comprehensive basic knowledge of Medical terminology, Anatomy and Physiology of Heart, Infection Control, phlebotomy Procedures, Special collection procedure for blood and non-blood specimens, operating the EKG machine, analyzing the EKG strips, understanding and distinguishing different types of Arrhythmias, recognizing Myocardial Infraction changes. The EKG/Phlebotomy (Combo) graduate is expected to effectively handle phlebotomy procedures, relate to lab paper work properly, non-blood specimen collections such as routine urine collection, during drug tests, and throat culture procedures and common complications.
